Man kann die Musik lieben, mit dem Libretto aber hadern. Die Ungereimtheiten des Texts und der Stilmix zwischen Opera Seria und Volkstheater machen es ambitionierten Regisseuren unserer Tage nicht einfach zu einer schl\u00fcssigen Deutung zu kommen. Betrachtet man nun die Athener Inszenierung von <strong>Arnaud Bernard<\/strong>, die in der Spielzeit 2010\/11 herauskam, dann fragt man sich allerdings, ob es die L\u00f6sung sein kann, gleich ganz auf eine Interpretation zu verzichten.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In der Ausstattung von <strong>Bruno Schwengl<\/strong> \u2013 man f\u00fchlt sich bei der Architektur etwas an eine arch\u00e4ologische Schausammlung erinnert \u2013 liefert der Regisseur eine Szenenfolge ab, die brav und bisweilen wenig inspiriert die Handlung erz\u00e4hlt. Die Rituale der Gemeinschaft um Sarastro, die zu Beginn des 2. Akts, noch bevor die Musik einsetzt(!), ausf\u00fchrlich zelebriert werden, wirken unfreiwillig komisch, w\u00e4hrend die K\u00f6nigin der Nacht nach klassischem Muster dem Nachthimmel entsteigen darf. Zu Tamino und Pamina ist Arnaud bedauerlicherweise wenig eingefallen, so dass sich der Tenor ungehemmt in tradierte Posen werfen kann. Gl\u00fccklicherweise sind da noch Papageno und Papagena, deren volkst\u00fcmlicher Part einfallsreich auf die B\u00fchne gebracht wird. Die Szene, wo die beiden zueinander finden und vom kommenden Kindersegen singen, ist im Stil der Commedia dell\u2019arte gehalten und die gelungenste der Auff\u00fchrung. Im Ganzen bekommt man aber nicht mehr als eine mehr oder weniger h\u00fcbsche Bebilderung zu sehen, an der man sich schnell sattgesehen hat.<\/p>\n<p>[expander_maker more=&#8221;Read more&#8221; less=&#8221;Read less&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Das Orchester unter der Leitung von <strong>George Petrou<\/strong> spielt solide auf. Das Dirigat des aufstrebenden Griechen kann nur teilweise \u00fcberzeugen. Die Ouvert\u00fcre zerf\u00e4llt unter seiner Hand in einzelne Teile, die eher raschen Tempi f\u00fchren bisweilen zu Koordinationsproblemen mit der B\u00fchne. Petrous Bem\u00fchen um ein transparentes Klangbild ist jedoch zu loben, ebenso sein Sinn f\u00fcr die kom\u00f6diantischen Momente der Partitur. Weitere Auff\u00fchrungen k\u00f6nnten die genannten Schwachpunkte abmildern. Der von <strong>Agathangelos Georgakatos<\/strong> einstudierte Chor singt weitgehend tadellos, vertr\u00fcge aber an manchen Stellen eine gr\u00f6ssere Besetzung.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Das Solistenensemble hinterl\u00e4sst einen gemischten Eindruck. Die beste Leistung des Abends zeigt <strong>Haris Andrianos<\/strong> als Papageno, der diese Partie seit 1997 immer wieder am Athener Haus gesungen hat. Mit ebenso nuancierter wie kraftvoller Stimme und mit animiertem Spiel verleiht er der Figur die st\u00e4rkste B\u00fchnenpr\u00e4senz. Sein Duett mit Pamina \u201eBei M\u00e4nnern welche Liebe f\u00fchlen\u201c ger\u00e4t zum H\u00f6hepunkt des Abends. Die Melancholie und Zartheit, die dabei in seinem Gesang mitschwingt, f\u00fcgt Papageno eine selten zu h\u00f6rende Facette hinzu. <strong>Maria Mitsopoulou<\/strong> als Pamina verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber keine besonders charaktervolle Stimme, weiss diese aber gut und nuanciert zu f\u00fchren. Der Tamino von <strong>Antonis Koroneos<\/strong> macht dagegen wenig Eindruck. Sein Gesang bleibt nicht nur in der Bildnisarie zu monoton und undifferenziert. Gestalterisch besser ist <strong>Christos Kechris<\/strong> als Monostatos, der bedauerlicherweise vom Regisseur auf eine Karikatur reduziert wird. <strong>Vassiliki Karayanni<\/strong> als K\u00f6nigin der Nacht liefert eine gute Rachearie ab, wobei ihre Stimme jedoch in der Mittellage unsch\u00f6n flakert. In der Arie des ersten Akts f\u00fchrt leider das gar schnelle Tempo des Dirigenten zu schlecht plazierten Spitzent\u00f6nen. <strong>Dimitris Kassioumis<\/strong> ist kein schwarzer Bass, weshalb die tiefen Sarastro-T\u00f6ne recht d\u00fcnn klingen. Seine Diktion ist hingegen vorbildlich. Unter den \u00fcbrigen Mitwirkenden fallen die Damen der K\u00f6nigin (<strong>Julia Souglacou, Georgia Eliopoulos, Angelica Cathariou<\/strong>) sowie Papagena (<strong>Myrsini Margariti<\/strong>) positiv auf. Die drei Knaben werden klangsch\u00f6n von Frauen gesungen (<strong>Niki Chaziraki, Miranda Makrynioti, Athina Kastrinaki<\/strong>). Musikalisch weist die Auff\u00fchrung also Schw\u00e4chen auf \u2013 von den szenischen Defiziten ganz zu schweigen.
