{"id":2940,"date":"2017-01-01T17:28:26","date_gmt":"2017-01-01T15:28:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/christoskechris.com\/?p=2940"},"modified":"2017-01-04T03:25:03","modified_gmt":"2017-01-04T01:25:03","slug":"orlando-paladino-full-of-brilliant-humour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christoskechris.com\/el\/orlando-paladino-full-of-brilliant-humour\/","title":{"rendered":"Orlando Paladino full of brilliant humour"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tenor Christos Kechris\u00a0proved to be a singer with delectable mozartian accents, whose legato is affirmed marvelously in his aria &#8220;<em>Dille che un infelice&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #75c8e0;\">Jacques Schmitt<\/span>, Res Musica<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Orlando Paladino brillant d&#8217; humour<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sans les moyens des grandes maisons d\u2019op\u00e9ra, l\u2019Op\u00e9ra de Fribourg avec son unique production annuelle prouve sa capacit\u00e9 d\u2019enthousiasmer le public (et le critique) dans un Orlando Paladino de Joseph Haydn r\u00e9ussi gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une mise en sc\u00e8ne enjou\u00e9e, une remarquable direction d\u2019acteurs et une distribution vocale de haut vol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Depuis des mois Alexandre Emery, le directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l\u2019Op\u00e9ra de Fribourg, tentait de communiquer son enthousiasme pour l\u2019Orlando Paladino de Joseph Haydn qu\u2019il avait en projet de monter pour son unique op\u00e9ra de saison. Certes, tous connaissent Haydn, le \u00ab copain \u00bb de Mozart, ses quatuors dont tous parlent et que peu ont eu la patience d\u2019\u00e9couter dans l\u2019int\u00e9gralit\u00e9, ses plus de cent symphonies et sa quinzaine d\u2019op\u00e9ras dont plus d\u2019une dizaine ne sont jamais jou\u00e9s, etc., etc. Quand bien m\u00eame la musique de chambre du compositeur autrichien est incontournable, ses op\u00e9ras ont perdu de popularit\u00e9. Il faut dire que Joseph Haydn n\u2019est pas Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart et Nunziato Porta n\u2019est pas Lorenzo Da Ponte. Ainsi, comme souvent, on se rend \u00e0 l\u2019op\u00e9ra avec des id\u00e9es pr\u00e9con\u00e7ues sur les \u0153uvres et des \u00e0 priori sur les spectacles qu\u2019on est appel\u00e9s \u00e0 voir. Et \u00e0 critiquer. Alors, avouons-le, c\u2019est charg\u00e9 de ces pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s, et avec une totale impr\u00e9paration que votre serviteur assiste \u00e0 ce spectacle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apr\u00e8s une ouverture qui semble n\u2019en plus finir \u00e0 force de reprise du th\u00e8me original, le rideau se l\u00e8ve sur une sc\u00e8ne au d\u00e9cor (<strong>Adrien Moretti<\/strong>) de cubes et d\u2019escaliers de bois brut devant lesquels se profile une petite passerelle enjambant un ruisseau fictif. Entrent un ouvrier et son assistante poussant une brouette. Casqu\u00e9s de jaune, blouses blanches et bottes de caoutchouc, la voil\u00e0 qui s\u2019affaire autour de la passerelle en lui ajoutant quelques marches et entonnant un Il lavorar l\u2019\u00e8 pur la brutta cosa rageux, un air se lamentant (d\u00e9j\u00e0) sur le travail et ses fatigues. L\u2019aria est enlev\u00e9 par une <strong>Marie Lys<\/strong> (Eurilla) p\u00e9tillante \u00e0 souhaits et vocalement bien assur\u00e9e. D\u2019embl\u00e9e on est conquis par cette fougue, cette assise vocale, cette fra\u00eecheur interpr\u00e9tative sans qu\u2019on saisisse vraiment tout le sens de cette sc\u00e8ne. Puis jug\u00e9 sur un \u00e9trange tricycle d\u00e9cor\u00e9 en cheval avec sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9, une valise d\u2019o\u00f9 sortent des \u00e9p\u00e9es, des coupe-choux, des lances et des hallebardes, d\u00e9barque le terrifiant Rodomonte, d\u00e9fenseur de la reine Angelica contre la jalousie maladive d\u2019Orlando. Ces exc\u00e8s sc\u00e9niques nous font peu \u00e0 peu entrer dans la com\u00e9die burlesque, dans une histoire qui se situerait \u00e0 l\u2019or\u00e9e de Don Giovanni et de Cosi fan Tutte avec des amours contrari\u00e9es et des personnages caricaturaux de la plus belle esp\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le Don Giovanni-Orlando de Haydn, contrairement \u00e0 celui de Mozart n\u2019attire pas la sympathie. Mais comme chez Mozart, ce m\u00e9chant a son serviteur. Ici, le Leporello se nomme Pasquale. Et dans cette production, le t\u00e9nor portugais <strong>Alberto Sousa<\/strong> (Pasquale) embarque le public avec un personnage d\u00e9sopilant qu\u2019il campe \u00e0 la perfection. Sur sc\u00e8ne, rien ne l\u2019arr\u00eate. Habit\u00e9 par le comique, par le burlesque, chanter semble \u00eatre n\u00e9anmoins sa deuxi\u00e8me nature. Pr\u00e9cis, expressif, sa parfaite diction ajoute \u00e0 la dr\u00f4lerie du jeu de sc\u00e8ne. Son air de bravoure Ecco il mio trillo est impressionnant de d\u00e9contraction et d\u2019humour fac\u00e9tieux.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Plus le spectacle avance, plus on se prend au jeu. Le vaudois <strong>C\u00e9dric Dorier<\/strong>, en excellent metteur en sc\u00e8ne utilise ses chanteurs pour ce qu\u2019ils sont et non pour ce qu\u2019il voudrait qu\u2019ils soient. Une intelligence du spectacle qu\u2019il domine avec chaque protagoniste. Ainsi le couple Eurilla et Pasquale sont tous deux dans l\u2019\u00e9nergie d\u00e9bordante alors qu\u2019Angelica et Medoro restent dans l\u2019expression romantique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vocalement la distribution fribourgeoise est jubilatoire. Si la soprano calabraise <strong>Rosaria Angotti<\/strong> (Angelica) d\u00e9bute la soir\u00e9e avec une certaine timidit\u00e9 qu\u2019on peut attribuer au trac naturel de la premi\u00e8re, elle am\u00e9liore sa performance au fur et \u00e0 mesure qu\u2019avance le spectacle. Quoique un peu emprunt\u00e9e dans les vocalises, elle d\u00e9montre n\u00e9anmoins une ma\u00eetrise agr\u00e9able du legato et une admirable unit\u00e9 vocale sur tout le spectre de colorature. A lui donner la r\u00e9plique, le t\u00e9nor <strong>\u03a7\u03c1\u03ae\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2 \u039a\u03b5\u03c7\u03c1\u03ae\u03c2<\/strong> (Medoro) s\u2019av\u00e8re un chanteur aux accents mozartiens d\u00e9lectables et dont le legato s\u2019affirme merveilleusement dans son air Dite che un infelice.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 372px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.resmusica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Orlando-Paladino.01-e1483184230956-362x395.jpg\" width=\"362\" height=\"395\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cr\u00e9dits photographiques: \u00a9 Alain Wicht<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Remarquablement sculpturale, superbement maquill\u00e9e, d\u00e9bordante de paillettes, habill\u00e9e d\u2019une robe argent\u00e9e moulante, magnifique, la f\u00e9e <strong>Helo\u00efse Mas<\/strong> (Alcina) surgit soudain volant dans les cintres du th\u00e9\u00e2tre. En totale d\u00e9contraction, \u00e9pousant avec humour la musique et le vol, montant au fa\u00eete du th\u00e9\u00e2tre avec les aigus puis subitement descendant presque jusqu\u2019au plateau avec les notes graves de son air Ad un guardo, un cenno solo, la mezzo fran\u00e7aise impose une voix puissante et bien timbr\u00e9e \u00e0 un personnage admirablement caract\u00e9ris\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">B\u00e9mol de cette distribution, le r\u00f4le-titre. Le t\u00e9nor argentin <strong>Carlos Natale<\/strong> (Orlando) souffre d\u2019un placement de la voix qui, tout en ayant une puissance vocale ad\u00e9quate, a la f\u00e2cheuse tendance \u00e0 une \u00e9mission nasale. Un probl\u00e8me qu\u2019on tente d\u2019oublier dans la touchante sc\u00e8ne finale o\u00f9, apr\u00e8s la tr\u00e8s belle interpr\u00e9tation de l\u2019air de Caronte (<strong>Ren\u00e9 Perler<\/strong>), la lente agonie et la mort (et la r\u00e9surrection !) d\u2019Orlando trait\u00e9e comme une Pi\u00e9t\u00e0 de Michel-Ange signe un tableau final \u00e9mouvant d\u2019une production lyrique tr\u00e8s r\u00e9ussie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Outre le judicieux choix de la distribution vocale, il faut f\u00e9liciter l\u2019Op\u00e9ra de Fribourg d\u2019avoir su s\u2019accompagner de personnes rompues aux arcanes du th\u00e9\u00e2tre lyrique avec avec un grand costumier (<strong>Agostino Cavalca<\/strong>) et un magicien des lumi\u00e8res (<strong>Christophe Forey<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dans la fosse, <strong>Laurent Gendre<\/strong> dirige un Orchestre de Chambre Fribourgeois qu\u2019on aurait aim\u00e9 moins terne, moins sec, soit un peu plus musical.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Jacques Schmitt<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u03a0\u03b7\u03b3\u03ae:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.resmusica.com\/2016\/12\/31\/a-fribourg-orlando-paladino-brillant-dhumour\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.resmusica.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>31\/12\/2016<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tenor Christos Kechris\u00a0proved to be a singer with delectable mozartian accents, whose legato is affirmed marvelously in his aria &#8220;Dille che un infelice&#8221;.
